Gregg E. McDougal

Gregg is a trial lawyer who has a national practice with 30 years of experience representing clients in complex business litigation and catastrophic personal injury matters. He represents both Plaintiffs and Defendants in all types of complex litigation, including litigation arising from mergers and acquisitions, insurance coverage issues for policyholders, dissenter rights, contract disputes, trade secret issues, fraud disputes, and catastrophic personal injury matters.

Gregg has served as lead counsel in numerous high-profile, nationally-recognized cases, representing five-time Olympic medalist Marion Jones in a defamation suit; Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Tiger Woods; a well-known football coach after his termination from a large university; Duke University in matters arising out of allegations made against members of the Duke men’s lacrosse team; a Malaysian corporation in a breach of contract action against singer-songwriter and actor Kenny Rogers; and a notable International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration matter in Japan. He has represented many well-known Fortune 500 Corporations and executives throughout the United States in various highly complex litigation matters. Gregg often manages clients’ litigation with alternative fee arrangements.

In addition to his corporate representation, Gregg has extensive experience successfully representing clients in wrongful death suits and catastrophic personal injury matters. Several of the catastrophic personal injury matters handled by Gregg have received significant national media attention.

Gregg is the only North Carolina attorney profiled in Law360’s inaugural “trial pros” series, which features his extensive trial experience. Gregg resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Dianna. Gregg enjoys hunting, fishing, and grilling out with close friends. He is active in his community, having served on the boards for many charitable and non-profit organizations over the years, including Legal Aid of North Carolina, First Tee of the Triangle (Chair), Ronald McDonald House (Chair), Communities in Schools (Chair), Coalition for Children and Youth (Chair), Human Relations Commission, Young Life, Boys and Girls Club, Raleigh Transit Authority, Neighbor to Neighbor, and the American Cancer Society.
